As for HAVING to be in heat, no. Heat may be a good time to start and may make things easier, but in our relationship we routinely, at her advances, have sex out of heat. Again, different dogs react differently.
And suffer pain out of heat? lmao.... May-be, and this is a big may-be, for a virgin. However, for a dog that has had sex before and likes sex, they are more than willing to ask for sex and, in many cases, demand it out of heat.
